How to calculate the average high school admission rate in 2024

The Ministerial Decree on the admission procedure sets out in Annex 2 the method for calculating the average score for admission.

“1. The average score for admission of secondary school graduates to the ninth grade of senior high school shall be the total average of the national assessments of the eighth grade graduates, calculated as the arithmetic mean, to two decimal places, without rounding, of the scores obtained in the tests included in the national assessment*.

* Candidates who have attended secondary school courses in their mother tongue and have taken the state assessment of language and literature in their respective mother tongue may choose to determine the average score in the state assessment without taking into account the results of the mother tongue and literature tests. In this regard, the parents or legal representatives of these candidates fill in a declaration based on the template provided in Annex 1. 5 The order signed by the parents or legal representatives and the candidate, which is accompanied by the computer distribution registration form, is submitted to the Secretariat of the educational unit of origin within the time specified in the calendar.

These candidates, who choose the average score in the national assessment without taking into account the results of the mother tongue and literature tests, cannot be assigned to minority language instruction classes by computer in upper secondary education.”

Tie criteria for equal average scores

If two candidates have the same admission average, they will be tied in order using the following criteria:

a) Graduation average scores for grades 5-8;

b) The results obtained in the Romanian language and literature tests in the national assessment

c) Results obtained in the national assessment mathematics test

d) The results of the mother tongue test and the results of the mother tongue knowledge verification test within the national assessment shall be supported in accordance with the provisions of this article. Article 10 Methods of organization and admissions to state upper secondary education for the academic year 2011-2012, approved by the Ministerial Decree of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports. 4.802/2010 on the organization and implementation of admissions to state upper secondary education for the academic year 2011-2012, applies to candidates applying for admission to educational institutions with teaching in minority languages.
