However, the road to opening Lloyd’s Inn KL was not without its challenges. The global COVID-19 pandemic caused significant construction delays and dealt a heavy blow to international tourism demand and cash flow for the entire hotel industry.

“It was undoubtedly a very challenging time,” Singaporean Mr Teo admitted. “Not only for the Kuala Lumpur project but also for our overall business operations, as the entire industry was severely affected by the downturn in tourism.”

But the determined co-founder persevered, working once again with the visionary team at Farm, the acclaimed design firm responsible for conceptualizing the striking aesthetic of the brand’s properties in Singapore and Bali.

“We worked with Farm again because they understood and helped shape the unique identity of the Lloyd’s Inn brand from the beginning,” Chang explained. Covering outdoor, exterior, decoration, guest rooms, etc. It remains largely unchanged. But it has been transformed and enlarged to be suitable for a high-rise building in Kuala Lumpur, marking our first vertical property of this kind.”
