Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said ceasefire talks with Israel over the Gaza war have made no progress, Al Jazeera reported.
Hamdan told a news conference in Beirut that Hamas remained ready to “look positively” at any ceasefire proposal that could end the war.
Hamdan also said hunger continued to threaten the lives of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, especially in Gaza City and the north, and he accused Israel of failing to provide food, water, medicine and fuel.
“Many international organizations have confirmed that the Gaza Strip’s 2.3 million people need at least 500 truckloads of humanitarian aid every day,” Hamdan said, adding that since that number has not yet been reached, it means that the entire Gaza population is now food insecure. He said 346,000 children under five are malnourished, 50,400 are severely malnourished, and 160,000 pregnant and nursing mothers need additional food to avoid malnutrition.
