Meeting held on Tuesday to discuss debt bill

The government decided to convene a parliamentary session on Tuesday to expedite the process of the debt bill.

The bill was introduced by Mohamed Mamdouh, a member of the People’s National Council, on behalf of the government. The debt bill is one of the 37 bills that the government plans to introduce in this parliamentary session. The agenda is to debate the bill.

The next items on the agenda include the appointment of Sri Lanka’s ambassador to Turkey and the transfer of the ambassador from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan. The Foreign Relations Committee will submit a report on the matter.

The Foreign Relations Committee will also submit a report on the President’s motion to seek parliamentary approval for Sri Lanka to sign the Samau Agreement.

Tuesday is not usually a day when Parliament sits. Sessions are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
