Jack VIDAS married Mary BUDISCELICH (both from Croatia) and they had at least one son, Ivan “John” VIDAS (1878, Croatia – 1916, Illinois). Ivan “John” VIDAS (1878, Croatia – 1916, Illinois) married Katarina BUTORAC (1882, Croatia – 1963, Illinois) in 1902 while in Croatia. They had one son, Emerich “Emery” VIDAS (1903, Croatia – 1976, Michigan) while in Croatia. They were from Mrkpolj, Croatia, near Sunger, Croatia. Three of them came to the United States (Illinois), and VIDAS’ name was changed to VEDAS: Ivan “John” VEDAS (1878, Croatia – 1916, Illinois) and Emerich “Emery” VEDAS (1903, Croatia – 1976, Michigan). Katarina (BUTORAC) VEDAS had two sisters: Stefania “Stephie” BUTORAC (1894, Croatia – 1936, Illinois, USA) and Maria “Mary” BUTORAC (1896, Sunger, Croatia – 1988, Illinois, USA). In 1908, Stefania and Mary BUTORAC came to the United States from Croatia on the SS LaProvence. On the ship’s cargo manifest, they listed their grandmother Petra SPORER, who lived in Sunger, Croatia, as their next of kin in their home country. They were heading to Farmington, Illinois to join their brother-in-law, Ivan VIDAS. Katarina BUTORAC (1882, Croatia – 1963, Illinois) and Ivan “John” (VIDAS) VEDAS (1878, Croatia – 1916, Illinois) had three children: Emerich “Emery” VEDAS (1903, Croatia – 1976, Michigan), Therese VEDAS (1912, Illinois – 1991, Michigan) and Carl VEDAS (1914, Illinois – 1947, Virginia). After the death of her first husband, Katarina BUTORAC (1882, Croatia – 1963, Illinois) married Kazimir MATKOVICH (born around 1887, Croatia – Illinois). They had one son: Ladislav “Laddie” MATKOVICH (1919, Illinois – 2000). Stefania “Stephie” BUTORAC (1894, Croatia – 1936, Illinois, USA) married Jack VEDAS (1885, Croatia – 1968, Illinois, USA) in Illinois. They had three children: Joe VEDAS (1911, IL – 1994), Ralph VEDAS (1912, IL – 1964) and Eva VEDAS (1914, IL – 1986).
