Jeffrey Gamble of Jeffrey Gamble Productions and Shala Monroque of Nicey Farms Cultural Club are excited to announce the first new art program in Saltibus, “Pick Up Your Lens, Frame Your World,” a fun photography workshop for Saltibus Elementary School students ages 10-12.

The program’s mission is simple: to nurture the talents of every child on St. Lucia, helping them discover and develop their hidden artistic gifts. Inner vision creates outer reality; using the magic of the camera, students will learn how to connect with themselves and their natural environment, construct the world as they see it, and communicate that vision to the world. Saltibus Primary School’s “Shoot: Build Your World” is the first in an ongoing inaugural photography program as part of the visual and commercial arts curriculum for primary schools on the island, envisioned by Jeffrey Gamble and Shala Monroque. Each workshop is tailored to a specific primary school community. Additional programs will be introduced in the new school year of 2024.

About the Host

Born in St. Lucia, Geoffrey Gamble is an award-winning photographer, visual artist, philanthropist, educator, and entrepreneur. Gamble developed an interest in painting and photography at the age of eight on the island. As a teenager, he moved to the United States and attended public schools in New York City. He studied photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology; soon after, he began photographing celebrities such as DMX and Biggie Smalls. For the past 12 years, Gamble has worked with the City of New York to develop photography courses that teach students how to reconnect with themselves and their communities through photography.

Shala Monroque is a nurturer, muse, creative advisor and curator of talent and ideas in the worlds of fashion, art and beyond. In 2016, Shala founded Nicey Farms, a regenerative farm residence in Saltibus, Saint Lucia; an off-the-beaten-path destination and retreat for reflection, creation and innovation for global creatives from the worlds of fashion, art and technology.
