A large offshore wind power complex is planned to be built in Finnish territorial waters in the Para Sea.
According to a press release from Skyborn Renewables, the offshore wind farm is expected to be completed in the early 2030s. It should extend in front of Oulu, Iyi, Simon and Kemi.
Bird and detection surveys have already started in the area. These will be completed in the project area this year and next.

The area is planned to have 85 to 185 wind turbines with a maximum height of 390 meters. The wind farm will have a maximum power generation capacity of 2,600 megawatts. According to Skyborn, the fossil-free electricity generated each year is equivalent to the annual power generation of a large nuclear power plant.
Skyborn has more than 20 years of experience in the development and construction of offshore wind farms around the world.
Lintinen said the Pooki project will organise stakeholder and public events where locals will have the opportunity to discuss the project with experts.
Offshore wind projects planned in the region’s waters require a master plan and the relevant zoning initiative will be submitted to the municipality for consideration by Skyborn Renewables this summer. The legally required environmental impact assessment process will also be launched in 2024.
