Driver and pedestrian taken to hospital after crash in downtown Toronto

Two people were taken to hospital after a driver struck a pedestrian, a tree and a storefront in downtown Toronto late Tuesday afternoon, Toronto police said.

The collision occurred near Jarvis and Front streets shortly after 5 p.m.

Toronto police said the pedestrian and the driver were taken to hospital. It is not yet clear what their injuries are.

Police said a tree was also knocked down during the collision.

Jarvis Street is closed from Front Street to King Street.

The investigation is still ongoing.
