Swimmer Dane Harrop and cyclist Laura Warren, both of whom have represented the Isle of Man at the highest level, will serve on the Isle of Man Sports Council for four years.

John Lund, who previously worked as a lecturer and learning mentor at English Premier League football club Sheffield United, has also been appointed as education representative for IoM Sports.

Sarah Corlett, Executive Chairman of Isle of Man Sport, said:

“I’m really excited about the new team we’ve assembled and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve.

“I am delighted that our new members will bring additional experience and knowledge as we continue to work hard to not only improve athlete performance but also encourage governing bodies, coaches and officials to achieve the highest standards.”

Manx Sport is an independent forum that promotes and develops sport and recreation on the island, providing advice and assistance to government to achieve its strategic objectives. As part of this, the Isle of Man Sports Council provides support and expert advice to the Department of Education, Sport and Culture to achieve its objectives.

Minister of Education, Sports and Culture Julie Edge MHK said:

“All three bring unique skills and expertise that I am sure they will make an impact. Manx Sport will continue to be a key part of delivering the Government’s key objectives and helping the Island’s athletes, coaches and volunteers achieve and realise their sporting ambitions.”

The new members join Sarah Corlett, Stephen Cregeen, Tim Leeming, David Morgan, Andy Varnom and Sarah Vorster to form the eight-member committee.
