Police report that a woman drowned in Kristina Kaupunki on Saturday evening, Midsummer’s Day.
At 21:54, the emergency center was notified of the incident.
According to preliminary information, a woman who went to the sauna for a swim was found lifeless in the water near the shore. Despite resuscitation efforts, the woman died.
Police are investigating the matter as a coronial investigation and will not release any further information.
This was the second Midsummer drowning in Kristina Kaupunki. Also on Midsummer Eve, a man who depended on the water for his livelihood in the village drowned.
As of Sunday morning, seven people had died in the midsummer incident. Three of the fatalities had drowned.
