Thousands of flies, which usually appear in July-August but showed up earlier this year, gathered around the light poles on the historic Sakarya Bridge in Adapazari district.

They died in large numbers

The mating bilgu flies later died en masse.

Drivers using the bridge had to drive slowly on the slippery surface as flies covered the road. The area was later cleared by a municipal team.
