Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was ready to stop the war in Ukraine by negotiating a ceasefire and recognizing the current front lines. Putin also questioned the legitimacy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after his five-year term expires. Putin said the expiration of Zelensky’s presidency would be a legal obstacle to peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
Reuters quoted three Russians as saying that Putin understood that any significant progress would require another national mobilization.
