Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) extends warm greetings to the people of the country on the eid al-Adha. The PIA management wishes everyone a happy and blessed Eid al-Fitr.
However, the airline also issued a major advisory for the proper disposal of animal excrement after Eid al-Fitr sacrifices, a tradition in memory of Prophet Ibrahim. Citizens were urged to dispose of sacrificial remains properly or at designated locations to prevent environmental hazards.
During and after the festival, there is a significant increase in the activity of scavenger birds due to the garbage. These birds pose a considerable threat to both civil and military aviation, causing serious damage to aircraft and endangering lives.
Hundreds of bird strikes occur on aircraft every year, mainly due to this debris and urban pollution. Pakistan International Airlines has reported more than 150 bird strikes since the beginning of this year alone.
Bird strikes into sensitive parts of an aircraft can be fatal to crew and passengers.
PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan appealed to the public to dispose of garbage with care. Your cooperation can save many lives and protect precious national resources.
By taking these precautions, you can make a significant contribution to the safety and well-being of your nation.
