Today, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Secretariat of State for Industry, Crafts and Commerce and Carlo Verdone, President of the Italian Federation of Enterprises. Federitaly is a business federation governed by Italian law, actively involved in the protection and promotion of Made in Italy. To this end, it has developed a certification process and a proprietary platform based on blockchain technology in collaboration with the Swiss legal foundations Dfinity and Origyn. The platform notarizes all data related to the origin and quality of the certified products and also allows digital verification by scanning a QR code. The agreement requires the Federation to provide information to the Secretariat of State for Industry, Crafts and Commerce, Technological Research and Regulatory Simplification of the Republic. San Marino and all the competent authorities of the San Marino Government undertake the necessary cooperation, in accordance with the “Made in San Marino” legislation, to develop a certification and valorization program for the “Made in San Marino” brand Marino” or other designations related to origin and quality. This cooperation will also include specific discussions on legislative developments from a technical-operational point of view. In addition, Federitaly undertakes to provide support to evaluate the development of a customized platform on the ICP-Internet Computer Protocol blockchain to issue “Made in San Marino” certificates or selected denominations, with digital verification through QR code or other tools. In order to implement the provisions of the agreement, a working group is set up to achieve the goal of valuing the “Made in San Marino” brand and analyze all aspects that could lead to the development of a certification process on a personalized platform based on the blockchain ICP (Internet Computer Protocol), as well as the harmonization of the trademark regulatory framework with the laws of the Republic of San Marino. A contact person will also be appointed who will participate in the working group together with a team of experts appointed by Federitaly to implement the activities envisaged by the agreement.
