The city currently has the largest number of renter households in Canada, with 551,290 households.
A lot of this has to do with some landlords taking advantage of the housing crisis by resorting to underhanded tactics, using any available rental space to lure in desperate people.
A landlord in Toronto crammed three beds into the living room and charged each tenant $550 a month.
“There is enough room in the living room for three girls,” the ad reads. Reddit’s Slumlords Canada page read.
“A neat and clean space just for girls on Thorncliffe Park Drive.”
Photos of the rental house show that there are three single beds in the house, one against the curtains and the other two against the opposite “wall”.
Outside the so-called bedroom, which is separated by a curtain, there is a sofa, coffee table, shelves and kitchen area.

The rent includes all utilities, the house is close to shops and TTC stations, and a 10-minute bus ride to Pape station.
The furnished, pet-friendly space has one bed available starting August 1, according to the ad.
Many Reddit users were shocked that the law was still not being enforced, with some calling it “DIY hostelry.”
