MIAMI (Latin Times) – A grand jury in Arizona this week indicted a man who planned to carry out a mass shooting during a Bad Bunny concert in Atlanta with the intent to “incite a race war” before the 2024 presidential election, the U.S. Department of Justice revealed.
The man, Mark Adams Prieto, faces charges of “firearm trafficking, transfer of a firearm for hate crime and possession of an unregistered firearm.” According to the FBI affidavit, he was under surveillance because of years of escalating alarming rhetoric that culminated in his attempt to commit a violent attack at a large event. He chose to watch the band Bad Bunny perform at the State Farm Arena on the third weekend in May.
The disturbing plot comes on the eve of the anniversary of the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, which killed 49 people, many of them Latino, on June 12, 2016. The tragedy remains one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history and highlights the vulnerability of minority communities to such acts of violence.
