Muscat: The 10th Oman Desert Marathon, a 165-km, five-stage self-supported desert race, will be held in the Sultanate of Oman from January 18 to 22.
The average daytime maximum temperature is 25 degrees and the average nighttime minimum temperature is 17.3 degrees. January provides the perfect conditions for Oman Desert Marathon participants to enjoy the race to the fullest.
The Oman Desert Marathon has been held for nine times since 2013, and in 2025 it will be divided into five stages, covering a total of 165 kilometers through one of the most spectacular deserts in the world. Each stage has sand, allowing participants to appreciate this country with extremely rich culture and scenery, but it is still a difficult challenge for participants who want to enjoy the race through the desert.
In the next edition, the stage distances will be 42, 32, 40, 30 and 21 km, thus offering competitors a spectacular route, an epic marathon-length stage, followed by an easier but still challenging 32 km stage, continuing for 40 km, before a 30 km night stage, and finally ending with the shortest distance of 21 km on the final day.
Following the last edition in 2024, which saw Rachid El Morabity on the front row of the podium, with Omani champions Saleh al Saidi and Ghaith al Saidi taking second and third place respectively, the Oman Desert Marathon will be reintroduced for its 10th anniversary, offering new distances for walkers. The 100km Oman Desert Marathon Hiking Experience will be a multi-day hike, giving you the chance to explore the endless rolling dunes and discover the desert on foot. For those who are not ready for a self-sufficient adventure but still want to challenge themselves, the Oman Desert Marathon will be back to offer races for locals, residents and companions of international participants, including the marathon, half marathon, 10km, 5km family run and 2km kids run.
