– Leading names in Dominican music – Cornell Phillips, Michelle Henderson, Elijah Benoit, Martindale Oliver, Karin XP and Webster Marie – will form the Mizik A Nou All-Stars at this year’s World Creole Festival, performing on the third night of Festival City at Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau, Dominica. They will combine their outstanding performing talents for a highly anticipated show, focusing on many of the hits from the “Mizik A Nou” hit series of four World Creole Festival commemorative compilations. The Mizik A Nou compilation, which was released in 1997 to coincide with the opening of WCMF, has been described as “a masterpiece representing the roots and future of Dominican cadence-lypso”. The WCMF commemorative compilations were first produced between 1997 and 1999, and most recently in 2016. The compilations feature the work of several top performing artists, writers, musicians and producers, led by the incomparable Cornell Phillip, and include Edmund Angol, Martindale Olive, Donavan Gabriel, Michele Henderson, Elijah Benoit, Pelham Jno. Baptiste, Herbie Jack, Ashton Lugay, Carlyn XP, Webster Marie and Chad Augustine. Inspired by Cornell Phillip, Edmund Angol and the late Eddie Toulon, Executive Director of the Dominican Festival Committee, the “Mizik A Nou Hit Series” offers a variety of cadence-lypso music to fans and festival-goers at home and abroad, and helps inspire a new generation of musicians to embrace the power and creativity of Dominican music. It gives fans something to lean on as they celebrate three nights of pulsating rhythms. These songs are anthems for fans and gifts to visitors and friends of the festival and Dominican music culture. The series has produced a host of hits, many of which have become an essential part of the festival experience and the festival’s rich legacy over the past two decades.The most famous hits include Neither, Joel Cadence and Sa ki Sa-w in 1997; Hossey, Dance Kolé, Sacrifice and Ba mên Bouyon 1998 and Dominique Vivan, Rhum Sung, Espwa 1999 and “Selebwe” In 2016.

The 20th Dominican World Creole Festival will be held at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau, Dominica, from October 27 to 29. A host of top local, regional and international performers will perform a variety of Creole music, from dynamic Bouyon to sweet and dynamic Soca and Calypso, Reggae, Afro-funk, Haitian Kompas to dynamic Cadence-lypso and Zouk, awaiting audiences. This year’s exciting lineup includes Machel Montano, Kalash, Mavado, Yemi Alade, Bunji Garlin & Fay-Ann Lyons, Sweet Micky, Kai, Etana, Romain Virgo, Klass, Marcé & Tumpak, Asa Bantan, Triple Kay International, Mizik à Nou All Stars, Breve, Swingin’ Stars and Zouk All Stars (including Jean Marc Ferdinand, Orlane, Francky Vincent and Stéphane Ravor).
