Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Italy to attend the 50th G7 Summit to be held from the 13th to the 16th of this month.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Malone invited Modi to attend the G7 Outreach Summit, which will be attended by leaders of the world’s major economies.
Indian Foreign Minister Kwatla said at a special briefing on Modi’s visit that at the invitation of the Italian Prime Minister, Indian Prime Minister Modi will visit Puglia, Italy on June 14 to attend the 50th G7 Summit held in the country. This is Modi’s first visit to India since he became prime minister for the third time.
“It will give us an opportunity to engage with other world leaders attending the G7 summit on issues that are important to both India and the global South,” Quattra said. Modi also plans to hold a bilateral meeting with Georgia Maloney on the sidelines of the summit.
Italy holds the chair of this year’s G7 summit, an informal grouping of seven advanced economies including Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Britain, the United States and the European Union.
This is India’s 11th G7 summit and Modi’s fifth consecutive G7 summit.
