The Papua New Guinea Chamber of Resources and Energy (CORE) recently renewed its Board of Directors at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and added two new female directors.
Chairman Anthony Smaré thanked outgoing councillors Philip Samar (Vice-Chairman), deputy chair of the Executive Committee, and councillor Andrew Harris (Deloitte), who represents the military, for their contribution and leadership.
“Both Philip and Andrew have made tremendous contributions to the Board over their five-year terms, and we are very grateful for the leadership, wisdom and expertise they have provided to CORE. Thankfully, they will remain involved on the Board as replacements for the company representatives, and we look forward to their continued involvement and support,” said Mr. Smaré
Pansy Taueni-Sialis, Chief Operating Officer of CORE PNG, expressed confidence in the newly elected board members and stressed that their collective expertise will be vital to the future of the organisation, particularly as the resources sector prepares for critical economic development.
“The committee plays an important role in guiding PNG CORE as we address the issues that matter most to our members,” said Tawny Sillis.
“CORE management would like to thank outgoing Trustees, former Vice Chairman Philip Samar and Trustee Andrew Harris, for their valuable contributions and wish them all the best.” Taueni-Sialis also welcomed the newly elected Trustees, highlighting the positive momentum CORE has achieved under the leadership of re-elected Chair Anthony Smaré.
“We have made significant progress, particularly in engaging with private and public sector stakeholders, as well as bilateral and multilateral partners. This progress has raised the profile of PNG CORE both nationally and internationally.”
Taueni-Sialis added: “We are excited and inspired by the opportunity to work with these leaders, whose expertise and fresh perspectives will undoubtedly enrich our work and move the industry forward.”
