Hamilton police say they are investigating a collision between a bus and a motorcycle that killed an 18-year-old man.

The accident happened around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday when a northbound bus was turning left from Upper James Street into the Hamilton Street Rail Bus Terminal when it collided with a southbound motorcycle, police said.

An 18-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The 61-year-old bus driver was not injured. There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the accident.

“The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate this tragic incident. We urge any potential witnesses or anyone with information to come forward,” Hamilton police said in a news release Thursday.

“We ask any motorists who were in the area at the time to review dashcam footage and encourage any residents or businesses nearby with surveillance cameras to check their footage for any relevant evidence.”
