CBI concludes probe into Arunachal Pradesh civil services exam paper leak

The Central Bureau of Investigation has completed its investigation into the alleged leak of examination papers for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and filed a final supplementary charge sheet against one accused.

The agency said the accused, Pasang Kotin Ezing, issued a cheque of Rs 5 lakh on behalf of her son, Loth Ezing (candidate), to a middleman as payment for leaking the question paper of AE (Civil) examination 2022. The names of the middleman and the candidate appeared in the initial charge sheet filed on December 8, 2022, along with six other persons, including a teacher of a private coaching institute and the then deputy secretary and deputy director of examinations of APPSC.

Other aspects of the case were further investigated. “Accordingly, a first and second supplementary charge sheet were filed against a private person and the then Deputy Controller of Examinations, APPSC and a private person on January 31, 2023 and March 30, 2023 respectively.

“The investigation also revealed that the then Deputy Controller of Examinations of APPSC had colluded with middlemen and others to leak the question paper of AE (Civil) Examination 2022 to different candidates in exchange for huge amount of money,” the agency said.

Based on an application filed by the Arunachal Pradesh government through the Department of Personnel and Training, the CBI has registered a case and took over the investigation on October 26, 2022, against teachers and unknown officials of the APPSC. Others named in the previous charges are Akhilesh Yadav, Taket Jerang, Tama Saroh, Tomas Gaduk, Tanyang Gaduk, Binam Jomang and Talung Jomang.
