The risk of power shortages on Australia’s main electricity grid over the next decade has shrunk as clean energy generation continues to increase.
Renewable energy supplies 40 per cent of electricity for homes and businesses on the east coast, with planned projects boosting the outlook for power reliability since last year, the Australian Energy Market Operator said in its report on Thursday. Power Opportunity Statement The report said the expansion of large coal-fired power plants was one of the reasons for this phenomenon.
