Three Dominican nationals have been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarships for 2024.

Over the years, many students from Caribbean countries who wish to study for a Masters degree at a UK university have been awarded Chevening Scholarships and are fully funded.

The three Dominicans selected are Kerahia Jno Baptiste, Kieron Williams and Melissa Morgan.

Kerahia Jno Baptiste, who served as Dominican Republic’s Women CARICOM Youth Ambassador 2014-2017, will study for a Masters degree in Economics at the University of Manchester.

She aspires to become an economist specializing in policy making.

Meanwhile, Kieron Williams aims to lead a media and communications revolution in the Caribbean, bringing international attention to the challenges facing Small Island Developing States in grappling with the realities of climate change.

He will study for a Masters in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Sheffield.

Melissa Morgan, a gender and development expert with more than a decade of experience, will study for a Masters in Social and Cultural Psychology at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Morgan believes her academic journey will enable her to bridge the gap between public policy challenges and the need for customized interventions, ultimately allowing her to design comprehensive, sustainable programs that address the root causes of economic and social inequality.
