GHOTKI: Local TV journalist Mohammed Bachal Ghanjio was shot dead by bandits in the Rounti riverside area of Sindh’s Ghotki district, police said on Tuesday.
According to police reports, the suspects killed the journalist and fled the scene in Gothki district, adding that the journalist’s body was shifted to THQ Ubalo Hospital.
Police said journalist Bachar Gangio was working in the fields when the attack took place. Police added that the incident is currently under investigation. The son of the slain journalist said his father had a long-standing feud with some members of the community and mentioned that his father was killed despite the alleged resolution of the feud.
He added that the same opponents had attacked his father a few years ago.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the murder of journalist Bachar Gangio and ordered the Sindh Police Chief to arrest the journalist’s killers at the earliest.
Murad Ali Shah expressed grief over the killing of journalist Muhammad Bachar Ganjo and directed the Sindh IGP to immediately arrest the killers of the slain journalist. He directed that the action against bandits should be made more effective.
“We believe in a free press,” the chief minister said, praying that Allah would raise the deceased’s reputation and grant patience to the bereaved family.
