ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday selected Pashtunkhwa Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai to lead the negotiations through the opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Insaf Platform (TTAP), sources said. Geographic News.

The development came after the PTI leadership supported the use of TTAP platform for negotiations with stakeholders, the sources added.

Meanwhile, once the Tehreek-e-Insaf takes a final decision, PkMAP Chairman Achakzai will have full authority to lead the negotiations and take further steps in this regard.

Once the parties agree on a common charter that will serve as the basis for negotiations, talks will revolve around issues such as the release of jailed leaders and workers, election transparency, and the constitutional boundaries of the judiciary, parliament and other state institutions.

In addition, sources said that the political leadership of the Justice and Development Party will also participate in the negotiations.

A day earlier, Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Gohar said the party’s jailed founder Imran Khan had agreed to hold talks with the government and said the party would start negotiations after talks with Achakzai.

“We told the PTI founder that dialogue was necessary as the gap was widening. He agreed with us,” Gohar said while speaking to reporters outside Adiala jail.

Noting that the former prime minister wanted to open avenues for dialogue, the PTI chairman told reporters that Khan was willing to forgive what happened to him in order to seek reconciliation.

“PTI founder has said many times ‘I am ready to forgive what happened to me’,” the PTI chairman said.

Asked whether the negotiations would proceed as per the Supreme Court’s suggestion, lawyer Gohar said: “The option given by the Supreme Court is also under consideration.”

However, he stressed that holding talks was the PTI’s “autonomous decision”.

“PTI founder has not written any letter to the Supreme Court for negotiations. PTI will also respond on its negotiation options.”

According to sources, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman’s remarks came days after Khan decided to “abandon” his hardline stance and ordered his party leaders to build links inside and outside parliament to ease ongoing political tensions. Geographic News.

Sources said the party leadership was asked to hold talks with various parties outside parliament, while its MPs were also asked to strengthen relations with various parties in the ruling coalition government.
