Gorkha, August 9. Now, the priests will not be able to keep offerings at the Gorakali and Gorakhnath temples.
An all-party meeting held under the chairmanship of the chief district officer on Saturday decided to ask the Gorkha Durbar Care Centre to formulate a procedure to manage the offerings.
“A district management committee for Gorakhkali temple and Guru Gorakhnath will also be formed,” said chief district officer Bhola Dahal, “For this, we have decided to send a written request to the concerned agencies through the Durbar Care Centre.”
The Durbar Care Centre was given the responsibility of timely improvement of temple worship and priest management as well as office administration. A seven-member sub-committee was formed under the coordination of Chudanidhi Tiwari, administrative officer, administrative office, to suggest improvements in the administration of Gorakhkali and Gorakhnath Puja.
The committee, whose members include Home Sim Basnyat, Narendra Dhakal, Mohanlal Shrestha, Rajendra Kumar Joshi, Sureshman Shrestha and Krishna Kumar Shrestha, has to prepare a recommendation within 15 days and submit it to the Gorkha Dalwal Nursing Centre.
At the meeting, Gorkha Darbar Care Centre Director Bishnu Pathak said that there are two donation boxes in the temple premises for collecting donations. He informed that the amount collected from the above donation boxes will be deposited in a bank account opened in the joint name of Dharwa chief priest Sharda Bhattarai and Nasu, Khirar (Bhinaria Susare) Lal Bahadur Khankhawas and Anil Amgai.
“Once the donation box is full, we will open it in Rohwar, including Nepal Army, Nepal Police, administrative office staff, Gorkha Darwar Care Centre staff and deposit the money in the bank account mentioned earlier,” he said.
He said the budget for temple worship had been cut since 2062/63 and “we have been using the money from the donation box to continue the work that urgently needs to be done.”
Pathak informed that even if the budget allocated by the state is not enough to buy the worship materials, the money in the donation box will be spent. According to him, the account currently has Rs 9.4 lakh.
The Gorkha Darwa Care Centre has received much less funds from the government this year compared to last year. Adda Pathak, the director, said that in the last fiscal year 2080/81, Rs.

Gorkha Mayor Krishna Rana said it would be appropriate to manage the temple worship through a development committee.
Ishwarnath Yogi, a priest in Gorakhnath, said he had to work for very low wages. Chief district officer Dahal said that along with the management of the sacrifice, the salary of the clergy should also be increased and if it is not enough, the district should provide help.
