A St. Lucian boxer captured third place at the seventh Winfield Brathwaite Caribbean Schools Boys and Girls Boxing Championships held recently in Guyana.

St. Lucia, led by captain Herve Charlemagne, finished second behind Trinidad and Tobago with 14 points, while host Guyana are the defending champions.
The standouts were Nervon Medrick, who won two silver medals. Orlando Monros and Elroy Canchon both had career-best performances. They were awarded bonuses for the skills they displayed.
Saint Lucia Boxing Association (SLBA) President David Christopher congratulated the entire team.
“We are so proud of the sportsmanship, dedication and discipline these boys have shown and I want to tell them that they are all winners. Keep training in the gym and do better next time,” he said.
While in Guyana, the young Saint Lucia boxers also participated in motivational sessions with Olympic silver medalist Michael Paris and two-time United States and two-time North American champion Terrence Ali.
