The Sri Lankan team has travelled to Malaysia to participate in the ICC Men’s 2020 World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
The competition will be played in a round-robin format against six Asian countries. Prior to this, the national team also plans to play training matches in Malaysia. The purpose of these matches is to allow the team to gain experience before the competition.
The team set out on Friday evening.

Sri Lanka will be participating along with Singapore, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Mongolia and hosts Malaysia. Sri Lanka will play its first match against hosts Malaysia in August, the second match will be against Singapore on August 31 and the third match will be against Kuwait in September.
In their fourth match, they will play against Hong Kong on September 3, Myanmar on September 1 and Mongolia on September 2.
Yousuf Azyan is the captain of the national team. The vice-captain is Adam Nasif Umar. A total of 14 players are heading to the qualifiers, led by Sri Lankan player Pasindha Liyanarachi. The manager is Ali Mohammad Manik.
