A man was shot and killed at Fond Assau in Baboneau on Sunday, according to law enforcement reports.

The incident, which occurred at around 9:20 p.m., left 17-year-old Alva Cole of Girard Cacao, Babono, dead.

Investigators found the victim motionless with an obvious gunshot wound to the head. St. Lucia Fire Department personnel treated the victim at the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead by a doctor.

“I heard the gunshots and I looked up and I saw (the smoke). I ducked and I ran,” an eyewitness told THE VOICE shortly after the incident.

“We were in a shop when it happened. When I came back I heard someone say there was someone on the ground,” the witness said.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is urging anyone with information regarding the homicide to contact the Major Crime Unit at 456-3754 or the Babonoe Police Station at 456-4120. Anonymous reports can also be made via the Crimeline (555) and the RSLPF Crimeline App.
