Prime Minister Philippe Pierre highlighted the significant progress Saint Lucia has made over the past three years.
He highlighted the substantial growth in the economy and job market at a recent forum announcing bilateral cooperation projects between Saint Lucia and Taiwan.
According to Prime Minister Pierre, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) predicts that the country’s economy will achieve a significant growth of 7% and the unemployment rate will also drop significantly. The country is expected to reduce the current unemployment rate of 10% to single digits, and the construction industry is expected to play a major role in providing more jobs.
“We are proud to lead and govern this country,” Prime Minister Pierre said.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister stated that the Government is committed to implementing income-generating development projects that focus on the well-being of the people of Saint Lucia. He also stressed that the Government is committed to fostering a spirit of cooperation and love to ensure that the entire country benefits from the Government’s initiatives.
The Prime Minister cited public cooperation and government subsidies for the purchase of textbooks and other academic materials. He said people were looking forward to the STEP program as a source of employment while also maintaining roadsides and clearing garbage brought on by recent heavy rains.
Prime Minister Pierre insisted that these income-generating development projects were being undertaken because the government remains committed to “developing the country for the people of Saint Lucia.”
Prime Minister Pierre thanked the Taiwanese Embassy for its support and stressed the government’s continuous efforts to improve. He revealed plans to launch a comprehensive sports program, which includes the establishment of a semi-professional football league and expanded support for local cricket leagues.
Additionally, the Prime Minister congratulated Saint Lucian athletes on their achievements and expressed optimism for progress in the year ahead, while also warning of the potential hazards posed by climate change and adverse weather conditions.
While congratulating sprinting prodigy Julian Alfred for his achievement, Prime Minister Pierre said Saint Lucia has produced several other talented young athletes besides other renowned athletes.
Finally, he expressed his hope that Saint Lucia would continue to reach new heights.
“We look forward to Saint Lucia continuing to thrive,” Prime Minister Pierre stressed.
