A three-month-old baby was killed by a dog in the attic while his parents were smoking cannabis

A man and a woman have been charged Manslaughter Thursday in Western New York Leaving her three-month-old baby alone in the attic, where two dogs mauled him to death, authorities reported.

Sulamain Hawkins and Anastasia Weaver, both 19, On Aug. 3, they left their sleeping baby and dog in the attic of a Rochester home and went downstairs to smoke marijuana, Rochester police said in a news release.

When they returned to the attic, they found The baby, Sulamain Hawkins Jr., was attacked by one or both dogs. The minor was taken to a hospital but died there, police said.

Hawkins and Weaver were arrested Wednesday following an investigation by police, Child Protective Services and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office. They were charged with manslaughter Thursday and are due back in court on Aug. 27.

Messages were sent to Hawkins and Weaver’s attorneys seeking comment.

The dog was sacrificed. The police said.
