On August 6, at the Customs and Monopoly Directorate, Italy and San Marino signed the Additional Deed to the Agreement on Accession to the Computerized Transport System or NCTS (New Computerized Transport System), signed in 2007. The signing of this important document will allow the updating of the San Marino Customs transit system, making it more efficient, secure and in line with the technical and procedural requirements set by the European Union.
The monitoring of goods by customs authorities is increasingly linked to technological developments and the digital transformation of processes, with complex computerized transport systems being a clear example. The NCTS system, active in the EU since 2000, manages the transit of non-EU goods. It is a widely used tool for operators who, thanks to automated procedures, can easily manage the transport of goods according to the principle of tax protection.
San Marino joined in 2009, through an agreement signed with the Admiral, which brought it into line with European regulations and improved the fluidity and security of trade. Since then, a technical update was carried out in 2011, followed by an update in August “In its field of action, Customs has shown how to use increasingly sophisticated technological tools to bring concrete benefits to citizens and the State, while always respecting rights and guarantees. This document represents a concrete step towards further integration with the European Union and confirms the role of my country, San Marino, as a reliable partner. I express my sincerest gratitude to all those who have contributed to this result,” said the director of the institution, Roberto Alesse, on the sidelines of the ceremony.
“We are satisfied with our cooperation with ADM and this is further confirmed by the signing of a further agreement that simplifies trade while protecting consumers,” explained Davide Gasperoni, Director General of the San Marino Tax Office.
