Ackeem Auguste scored a triple hundred for the Saint Lucia U-23 team to lead them to victory over the Dominican Republic in the inaugural Under-23 bilateral series.

The match was held at Philip Park in Mindu and showcased excellent batting performances from both teams. August scored 308 runs off 257 balls, including 23 fours and 18 sixes, taking St. Lucia’s total to 488 runs.
This amazing result surpassed the previous personal best score of the Saint Lucia players. As the opponent was out for 124 points in the second innings, the Saint Lucia U-23 team secured the victory with a 10-point advantage.
Dominican batted first and under the leadership of captain Stephen Pascal, the team scored 354 runs, scoring 160 runs in 218 balls, including 18 fours and 5 sixes.
Then, on Monday, the final day of the three-day tournament, came the ‘August Show’ as the left-hander and former West Indies Under-19 captain thrashed the Dominican bowlers to post a fine 308 runs off 257 balls, hitting 23 fours and 18 sixes at a strike rate of 119.84.
The match continued with St Lucia leading at 7-313 before August’s 275 broke the overnight record of 191, the highest score by a St Lucia batsman since Kimani Melius in 2015.
The 20-year-old, personable player burst onto the scene with a bang, recording the highest score in any format of competition in St. Lucia’s history.
The Dominicans trailed by 134 in the first inning and were shut out in 37.1 innings, scoring 124 and falling behind by one run, allowing 10. Jayden Elibox had 3 runs and 11 runs, Sky LaFeuille had 2 runs and 10 runs, Lee John had 2 runs and 11 runs, Keon Gaston had 2 runs and 32 runs, and Royce Paul had 1 runs and 07 runs.
The outstanding skills and determination displayed by Akeem August earned him well-deserved praise from his teammates and coaches.
Recalling his own outstanding performance in 2015, Saint Lucia Under-23 national team captain Melius pointed out that records are meant to be broken.
He added that August “hit the ball very well and had the maturity to … compete at all age group levels, (and) was able to score runs, and he must be commended for his efforts.”
St. Lucia head coach John Eugene told reporters that the input from the St. Lucia High Performance Centre (HPC) would be a great help to emerging players like August. He noted that Akeem is “in a unique position right now in terms of his development…Looking forward, I think he’s hungry to score and from the way he played this innings, his attacking path looks freer.”
The summary scores are as follows:
Dominican Republic U23 – 1st inning – 354 runs (97.3 innings)
St. Lucia U23 – 1st innings – All out 488 runs (96.4 innings)
