Islam is a religion of high morality. Islam is a religion of truth and fidelity. All noble moral qualities should be reflected in Islamic society. The society must be freed from the ugly characteristics of hypocrisy.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) explained the characteristics of hypocrisy and encouraged his followers to avoid it. The most obvious characteristics of a hypocrite are lying, betrayal of trust, and breaking promises. Honesty, trustworthiness, and keeping promises are the most important pillars of social morality.
There are many verses and hadiths about these characteristics. He explains well the evil of lying, which is not a characteristic of a believer. He explains the virtue of honesty and the nobility of truthfulness. He also mentions the sin of betrayal and the importance of placing trust in its owner, as well as the signs of the moment when trust is placed in those who are not its owner.
He commands us to be faithful to our promises and covenants and to deal justly with our enemies. Yet, it is extremely sad that today our society is witnessing the opposite. Society is filled with deception and fraud. Transfers and assignments of unbearable trusts. It is betrayal. It is a lie. It is unjustly eating up people’s property. It is stripping people of their honor and dignity.
Rolling and eating human flesh. The question is, is this how an Islamic society should be? Where is our honesty? Why should we fear Allah? Where is our belief in the afterlife? Is there no afterlife? Is there no God? Isn’t religion an explanation of good and evil? Don’t we want to die? Why should our thoughts be materialistic? Is materiality indestructible?
That’s quite a lot of questions. These are the questions we need to ask ourselves. Examine ourselves. Wake up from the slumber of ignorance. We have to realize that we are on the wrong path. We have to admit that we don’t remember Allah as much as we should. You have to know that you are not as afraid as you should be. Society has to get rid of the army of hypocrisy.
Society should be decorated with the beautiful qualities of faith. Only by working together can we build a society with noble social morality.
