The MMPRC scam involved the development of a resort that leased Rs. The hearing in the case against former President Abdulla Yameen has been cancelled.
Yameen is accused of money laundering and bribery. A hearing scheduled for tomorrow was cancelled after prosecutors requested a delay.
The last hearing in the case was held in August last year.
The charges against Yameen mainly allege that he was involved in the development of Rs. 1,117,000 through the Ministry of Tourism and MMPRC. In the Phugiri lease deal, Yameen used his position of influence to launch money laundering activities by paying bribes of $1,117,000 ($1.117 million) to Ahmed Crick Riza of Karikilahiya, KS Malaysia, and using Sun Construction and Engineering Pvt Ltd and Sun Investment Pvt Ltd.
In addition to the present case, the Criminal Court v. quashed the prison sentence of former President Abdulla Yameen in the Arrangement case.
