ISKANDAR PUTRAJAYA, Johor: A Singaporean man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car making a U-turn on the Second Link Expressway on Saturday (June 8).

Iskandar Puteri police chief M Kumarasan said the victim suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot.

The accident occurred at about 12.20am on Saturday and involved a 31-year-old man who was riding a Yamaha MT07 motorcycle when it collided with a Proton Saga car.

“Investigations revealed that the driver of the car was allowed to make a U-turn as he was the project supervisor of the road repair works… He made the U-turn to reach another repair site to the north,” he said.

“The victim’s body was taken to Sultanah Amina Hospital.”

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore also said on its Facebook page on Saturday that a traffic accident occurred on the Second Link Bridge behind Tuas Checkpoint in the early hours of Saturday morning, and exit procedures have been suspended until the scene is cleared.

Kumarasan added that the 40-year-old driver of the car was not injured and the case was under investigation.
