Sudan will open the Adre crossing point on the Chadian border to humanitarian aid for three months. The government council of de facto ruler Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan announced the news on X (formerly Twitter).
Sudan is experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis 16 months since the bloody power struggle between Burhan and his former deputy, Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, began. The country is facing famine; more than 10 million people have been displaced by fighting and bombing.
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), more than 25 million people in Sudan are at risk of severe hunger. That’s half the population.
