Middle East: Fox News says Iran is counting down to attack Israel

The Middle East is on a “razor’s edge” after Hamas leader Ismail Haniya was assassinated by Israeli armed forces in Tehran and Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukr was assassinated by Israeli armed forces.

Iran and its allies have vowed to retaliate and rejected efforts by U.S. and Arab world diplomats to moderate their response, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Meanwhile, Fox News reporter Trey Yingst reported, citing unnamed sources in the region, that “Middle Eastern officials believe we are approaching zero hour.”

According to US online reports, Iran and its proxies in the Middle East (Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis) may launch an attack on Israel within the next 24 hours.

IDF: Ready to intercept any threat

Against the backdrop of the impending attack, Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said the IDF was on “high alert” for possible attacks from Iran and Hezbollah, and that there had been no changes in directives from the Home Front Command.

“We are ready to intercept any threat in real time,” Hajari stressed.

Iran plans to launch a massive attack

Earlier, Axios news website reporter Barak Ravid, via X, cited Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallad as stressing in a phone call with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that Iran’s military preparations indicate Iran intends to launch a large-scale attack on Israel.

The journalist noted that Israeli intelligence now believes Iran could launch a direct attack “within days” in retaliation for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, in Tehran, an action blamed on Israel.
