In the wake of the recent controversy surrounding Kangana Ranaut, Congress MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has spoken out on the matter. Kaur lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the party of pursuing policies aimed at “spreading poison”. Kaur’s remarks came a day after the Ranaut incident, when a CISF personnel slapped the actor-politician. Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur said that making “useless remarks” could have serious consequences, alluding to the backlash faced by Ranaut.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Kaur said: “Kangana Ranaut should understand her responsibilities and not try to please her top commander… As an actor, she is watched by a lot of people and when you say stupid things and make useless remarks, people react.”

She added that if she heard people attack her own mother with similar statements she had made about other people’s mothers, she would find them equally offensive. Instead of admitting her mistakes, she was accused of calling others terrorists. She pointed out that her party’s strategy was to spread negativity.

Ranaut had claimed in a video on Thursday that a policeman hit her on the face and hurled abuses at her during security check at the Chandigarh airport.

Ranaut claimed that a CRPF officer, who appeared to be angry about her stance on the farmers’ protest, hit her in the face and hurled abuses at her during a security check at Chandigarh airport. The altercation took place two days after she was elected Lok Sabha MP from Mandi municipality in Himachal Pradesh.

The CISF officer involved, Kulwinder Kaur, has been suspended and an investigation has been initiated. The CISF, which is in charge of airport security, has also ordered a forensic inquiry into the matter.
