Gaza: Hamas called on Gaza ceasefire mediators to come up with a plan to implement the plan they had previously approved, rather than holding more rounds of negotiations or proposing a new solution. Since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict, Hamas has been “keen to make the efforts of the Egyptian and Qatari mediators successful in order to reach a ceasefire agreement and end the war against the people of Gaza, and has confirmed its support for any efforts aimed at stopping the war,” Xinhua News Agency quoted the group as saying on Sunday.

The statement also said that Hamas has held several rounds of negotiations and shown all the “necessary flexibility and initiative” to achieve the goals and interests of the people of Gaza.

The statement reads that although Hamas and the mediators are aware of “Israel’s true intentions and positions, Hamas responded to the latest agreement in early July, but Israel presented it with new conditions that had never been put forward during the negotiations and further escalated the war on Gaza.”

In light of this, out of “concern and responsibility for the people of Gaza and their interests, the movement calls on the mediators to submit a plan to implement the plan they had previously presented to the movement and to force Israel to do so,” according to the Indian News Agency.

On August 8, the leaders of Egypt, Qatar and the United States urged Israel and Hamas to reach a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible and continue negotiations.

The three countries invited Israel and Hamas to “resume urgent discussions on Thursday, August 15, in Doha or Cairo, to bridge all remaining differences and immediately begin implementing the agreement,” according to a joint statement issued by the Egyptian presidency.
