The Teatro Titano is a small Italian-style theatre, a typical example of 19th century San Marino architecture, which was restored in the 1980s to regain its ancient charm and is once again home to the theatre season.
In recent years, there have been problems with water seeping from the roof and the exterior walls turning black from years of accumulated dust and dirt.
The Autonomous State Public Works Corporation has announced that the first phase of renovation of the Titano Theater has been completed, with reference to the special maintenance works of the roof and the cleaning works of the main facades of Piazza Sant’Agata and Stradone.
The restoration work on the main façade of the Titano Theater, the repositioning of the mobile ashlars and the application of the reinforcement treatments to restore the original appearance of the building and guarantee its long-term maintenance were extremely complex tasks. In addition to the many unexpected events encountered during the work, the demands were also very high. The difficulties were always overcome with great professionalism, thanks first of all to the professionalism of the staff of the AASLP restoration team. Now everyone can see the results, which I think speaks for itself.
The work was carried out under the engineering management of the architect Sergio Casadei in collaboration with AASLP technical staff. It was a team effort with the participation of various professionals and private and public workers.
Eng. Giuliana Barulli (Director, AASLP): “Special praise goes to the restorers of San Marino stone who, through their knowledge, pass on ancient craftsmanship or preserve heritage. We are about to replace the fixtures on the main facade and restore the wooden entrance door. Planning is underway for the functional adaptation of the interior spaces, aimed at making the building more accessible and usable to host various cultural events and performances, as well as redeveloping the reception areas and service hygiene to make the theater more welcoming and comfortable for the public.”
