Kathmandu, July 16. Police rescued 24 people in danger from floods caused by last night’s rains in different parts of Lalitpur.
Police rescued 24 people, including three children, eight women and 13 men, from the Bagmati Corridor and other areas.
According to the police, 2 persons, 1 man and 1 woman, were from UN Park in Lalitpur, 8 persons, 4 men and 4 women, were from Sundarighat, 1 person was from Balkumari Bridge, 2 children, 2 women and 3 men, were from Mahalakshmi City – On the 7th, 7 persons including 1 woman, 1 child and 4 men, from Ram Mandir in Chagathali, Sanepa, Lalitpur were rescued from the vicinity.
Police also rescued Khasi goats from near the Saneparam temple.
Overnight rains have damaged all three districts of the Kathmandu Valley. Floodwaters have submerged roads along the banks of the Bagmati river.
The bridge over Bagmati River in front of the central office of Nepal Communist Party-Unified Marxist Lenin in Chaisal, Lalitpur was also submerged by floodwaters. Now, although the flood level in the area has decreased, it is impassable as it is very slippery.
The UML central office, football stadium, makeshift police post and party palace in Chasar were submerged in floodwaters.
The road area along Bagmati bank from Sanepa Balkhu to Shankhamul and the Ram Mandir area in Sanepa were also flooded.
Floodwaters from the Godabari river have entered settlements around Imadol Kist Hospital, areas around Pawan Prakriti School and Mahalakshmi City in Changatli7.
The District I Office in Kupandol, Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Shankhamul Park, Sukumbasi Basti, Shramik Kanti Kajel, Nonstop Bus Park on the banks of Bagmati River in Kathmandu have all been submerged in Bagmati.
Flooding also occurred in the Bafar area of Kathmandu. Bal was given a day off today after entering the Janodaya School in Bafar.
The flood level in Dhobikhola, Chabhil and Kapan areas of Kathmandu has reached the warning level. Therefore, the water conservancy and meteorological department has asked to alert residents in coastal areas through text messages.
