At the Paris Olympics, 14-year-old Australian representative Arisa Trew was crowned the women’s skateboard park champion. 15-year-old Japanese woman Kokona Hiraki won the second silver medal of her career, and Britain’s Skye Brown won her second consecutive Olympic bronze medal.
In the preliminaries, the best score was from Japan’s Hiraki (88.07). American skateboarder Bryce Wettstein ranked second with 85.65 points, and Japanese skater Hinano Kusaki ranked third with 85.11 points.
Olympic champion Alisa True failed in her first attempt, with the Australian scoring only 35.53 points. In the second round, True improved her score and advanced to the medal match with 90.11 points. After the final attempt, the Australian improved her score further and won the Olympic gold medal with 93.18 points.
Second place winner Hiraki, who also won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, scored 92.62. Britain’s Skye Brown won her second consecutive bronze medal with a score of 92.31.
Finn Heili Sirvio, 13, also made the parkrun final, finishing fifth with a score of 88.89.
