Earlier in the first innings, Kishan scored a century off 86 balls and finished with 114 runs off 107 balls.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Kishan was not in Jharkhand’s initial squad but decided to play and after informing the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) about it, he was selected.
The report further stated that Kishan is expected to return to the Ranji Trophy in the 2024-25 season after he expressed his desire to the state selectors to return to the game.
The last domestic first-class match he played was in December 2022. He did not play in the Ranji Trophy at the end of the 2023-24 domestic season, which was costly for him as he was removed from the central contract list for not prioritizing domestic cricket.
ESPNcricinfo quoted a JSCA official as saying, “For Ishan, ability was never an issue. The question was only whether he was ready to return. The decision was his. When he was not included in the initial list, it was only because we did not hear from him. When he expressed his desire to return, he was picked.”
The 26-year-old made his Test debut during India’s 2023 tour of the West Indies, replacing the injured Reesha PantHis last first-class match was the second Test match of that tour. Although he was selected for the South Africa series, he opted out due to mental fatigue.
Kishan played two Test matches, 17 ODIs and 11 T20Is in 2023. He was also a part of the Indian team in the 2023 ODI World Cup final and topped the order in both matches Shubman Gill Sick.
The Buchi Babu tournament was resumed last year after a gap of six years, using a four-day red-ball format similar to the procedure during the league phase of the Ranji Trophy.
This is an important preparation for the 12 participating teams for the upcoming 2024/25 domestic season.
