The Southern Ethiopian Government Communications Affairs Office announced that 12 more bodies of victims were found in a landslide in the Gofa district of Geze city in the Gofa region.
The head of the office, Ms Senait Salomon, confirmed that the total number of bodies found so far has reached 243.
The official said that residents of Gegeze Gofa district who lost family members, friends and loved ones in the accident are still in shock and grief.
An elderly man who was one of the victims told VOA in an interview: “I lost my wife and 15 close relatives in this accident when I was in the prime of life; I am the only one left.” They explained their situation.
Yesterday, Monday, after three days of nationwide mourning for the victims of the accident ended, people from all over southern Ethiopia flocked to the square to light candles to express their condolences.
