Two dead after tandem paragliding flight near Zermatt
The two wanted to take off from Breithorn together and slowly go deeper into the depths by paragliding. The accident happened right at the beginning.

Two people have died in a paragliding accident near Zermatt, Switzerland. They wanted to take off with the paraglider from the Breitberg peak in canton Valais and drift into the depths. According to the police, the two had difficulties as soon as they took off and fell hundreds of meters deep. The cause of the accident, which occurred on Wednesday, is still unclear.
The Breithorn ridge has many peaks, with the highest point at more than 4,000 meters above sea level. Someone saw the accident and notified the rescue team. Two bodies have been found. Police are reluctant to reveal where the victims are from before they are officially identified. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation.
Each paraglider takes off from a mountain. The paraglider is spread out on the floor behind them. The pilot is connected to the glider by a line up to nine meters long. In a tandem flight, the pilot has a second person tied in front of him. Both fly downhill, and the pilot pulls on the rope, causing the glider to rise and fill with air.
