According to a recent report by the Fraser Institute, Zambia’s mining sector has soared from 12th in the global investment attractiveness rankings in 2023 to 3rd in 2024. The leap is due to a strong mining policy environment that has attracted $10 billion in new investment over the past three years.

To promote investment and sustainable growth, the Zambia Chamber of Mines has partnered with the Critical Minerals Africa (CMA) Summit 2024. CEO Sokwani William Chilembo and other representatives will highlight Zambia’s critical minerals sector to potential investors. The 2024 CMA Summit will be held on November 6-7 and aims to establish Africa as a preferred investment destination for critical minerals. Held in conjunction with the Cape Town Africa Energy Week conference (November 4-8), the summit will provide attendees with access to key figures in the energy, mining and finance sectors. As the world’s seventh largest copper producer and Africa’s second largest, Zambia plays a vital role in the supply of copper for renewable energy technologies and electric vehicles. The country plans to triple its annual copper production to 3 million tonnes by 2031 through global partnerships.
