YouTube announced that new tools are coming to Shorts, including an auto-layout feature for Android that converts longer videos into shorter ones by choosing the best-fitting format.

YouTube short videos are vertical, short, cannot exceed 60 seconds, and appear in their own tab in the platform’s “apps,” as well as on each channel’s homepage.

The company admits that the goal of Shorts is to “break down barriers to creation” and make sharing videos “fun and easy” for both experienced creators and those just starting out.

To motivate them, it has developed six new tools, which are coming soon, aimed at facilitating the creation of content in Shorts, as it said in a statement on its blog.

First, he recalled that last August he announced the tool aimed at promoting “short videos”, which he tried to improve by introducing an option that allowed the automatic design of videos on Android.

The feature automatically tracks the main subject of a video when it’s converted to a short clip. “This means that when you remix a long video in Shorts, the auto layout tool will automatically pan, zoom, and crop,” he said in the post.

On the other hand, he commented that it will update the “text-to-speech” option, which will give creators “more ways to express themselves” by reading the text of their short films aloud. This recording can be added by tapping the “Add voice” icon in the upper left corner (there are four available).

YouTube will also allow users to add “stickers” that encourage users to share their content using an “Add yours” prompt. According to YouTube, this will “trigger a chain reaction of other creators.”

On the other hand, the platform says that “soon” it will be possible to add automatically generated captions directly to content, making Shorts “more interesting, engaging, accessible, and useful.”

Likewise, it has also introduced a “remix” option to remix content, allowing users to join in the “fun with other creators” while giving a “personal touch” to the remixed content.

Finally, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Minecraft, it was announced that two new effects will be introduced in Shorts: Minecraft Spring, which teleports the user “directly” into the game world, and Minecraft Rush, a new mini-game that can be played directly in the player.
