Fiji’s youth team Kulas will compete in the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup tomorrow against Brazil with a clear and direct goal.
Assistant coach Annette Nainima said they hope to perform well and score their first World Cup goal.
She told OFC Media it would be “a proud moment for us, for me, the players and the other officials”.
“This is our first time playing in a World Cup and going back and telling these stories to our families, our kids, our loved ones… it’s a big deal because nobody thought the Fijian women’s team would make it to the World Cup. But we did it.”
“I know my family back home has been so proud of us and they wait to watch our games and live broadcasts on TV.”
“We’ll just do our best.”
Fiji will play its first World Cup match against Brazil on Sunday, September 1 at 11am, before facing Canada on Wednesday, September 4 at 1pm and France on Saturday, September 7 at 10am (all Fiji time).
